Metering platforms bill your customers. They don't control your agents.

Metronome, Orb, and Amberflo are for revenue — measuring usage and billing customers. Agent spend control is a different job, in the other direction. Here's the split.

When teams shop for AI cost control, they often land on usage-based billing platforms. It's an easy confusion: both products are about 'usage' and 'cost.' But they face opposite directions.

The revenue direction

Metering platforms (Metronome, Orb, Amberflo) measure what your customers used and bill them. They're revenue infrastructure — critical, but they look outward.

The cost direction

Agent spend control looks inward: what do your agents spend, on whom, against which rules — before the money moves. No metering platform makes that decision; they record usage after the fact.
